It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Bishop nee McLean on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at Trenton Memorial Hospital at the age of 88 following a lengthy illness.

Beloved wife of Don for 67 years and proud and devoted mother of Larry (Linda), Lori (Ron), Gayle (the late Mike), and Karen (Dwaine). Cherished grandmother of Richard (Abbi), Ryan (Jessica), Justin, Jenn, Leah, Kristen (Jason) and Tyler. Treasured great-grandmother of Brooke, Zachary, Boe and Homer.

Betty will be deeply missed by her sister Doreen and was predeceased by her siblings Ron, Joyce and Bill. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Betty will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved, and her feisty spirit, kindness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tony Stone, whose devoted care and friendship over many years meant so much to Betty and her family. The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Trenton Memorial Hospital for their exceptional kindness, care and compassion.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, a private family service will be held at Bowmanville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
