BIZI, Muriel Evelyn Bizi

November 9, 1932 - January 15, 2026
BIZI, Muriel Evelyn Bizi

Loving grandmother of Emma (Shamar), Ethan, David and Christopher. Sadly missed by her sister, Betty Hutton (Ted, deceased) and brother Robert ‘Bob’ Stevens (Jean, both deceased) of Bowmanville. She was Aunt to Kay (George), Don (Elaine) and Doug (deceased); Deborah (Greg, deceased), Charles (Judi), Dianne (Christopher), Beverly (Doug) and Barry (Fabienne).

Muriel was born and raised in Bowmanville. She attended Bowmanville High School and Albert College, in Belleville. Desiring to serve on the mission field in Africa, Muriel went on to study Nursing at Toronto Western Hospital, and Public Health Nursing at the University of Toronto. To work with babies, Muriel studied Midwifery in England. To prepare for missions, she attended Covenant College at the University of Toronto. To work in this part of the world, she studied and learned Portuguese.

In 1961, Muriel moved to the Congo and learned to speak French and Kikongo while working in a maternity ward. Her Public Health education served her as she began training local women, on-the-job to become Nurse Assistants in the maternity ward. Along with nursing, Muriel was able to connect with the local church, meet other missionaries, in order to do her part in serving the Lord.

While in the Congo, Muriel met and married Paul Kabulu Bizi. They had two children and lived in the city of Kinshasa. After 17 years in Africa, with God’s protection and the help of dear friends, Muriel returned with her two children to Bowmanville. While raising her children, her service to God continued through nursing and foster parenting.

Muriel leaves a legacy of faith, as a faithful wife, much-loved mother, grandmother, nurse and friend. Her life was built on the foundation of faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to bring honour to Him.
