BOLTON, Ronald Wilfred Bolton

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ronald Wilfred Bolton at the age of 73. Ron passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday April 10, 2026. Ron is survived by his loving wife Gina of 44 years, his daughter Melissa (Kevin) and son James (Cassie). He’s a cherished Papa to Ryan, Nathan & Sarah, Cooper & Addison, Brody, Jackson & Abby. Ron was predeceased by his parents Margaret & Wilfred Bolton, his older siblings Gary (Gloria) & Gail and leaves behind his baby sister Lori (Scott) and brother in law Gavin. He will be sorely missed by his Martino siblings, and was affectionately known as Uncle Ronnie & Zio Ron to many nieces and nephews. His absence will be felt by his many dear friends.

Ron moved to Oshawa from small town northern Ontario in his high school years. He later settled in Oshawa again to raise his children with Gina. There he had an impact on many lives being involved in James’s hockey and Melissa’s soccer, he was the definition of a “sport parent” and coached many teams over the years. He was always known for his big smile, friendly conversation and backwards ball cap. Being a Grandpa was what he lived for. He continued his busy “sport parent” lifestyle when he and Gina moved to Newcastle in 2016. He was a constant fixture at hockey, baseball, soccer and lacrosse games, and all figure skating events for all his grandkids. He was each of their biggest fans through and through! Ron and his family want to ensure that all those who cared for him at Durham Region Cancer Centre and Northumberland Hills Hospital know how grateful he was for all their kindness support. The doctors and nurses of Lakeridge Health Bowmanville ICU, 1 east and 2 east hold a special place in our hearts for the compassion and care they gave Ron and his family in his final days. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation We Care, We Can Campaign.

Keeping with Ron’s wishes he will be cremated and the family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Friday May 1st from 2-6pm at the Orono Arena Community Hall 2 Princess St. Orono, ON. Please come dressed in bright colours.
