It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Braznik on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at the age of 79, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Predeceased by his wife Sharon Braznik and daughter Laura Quinn. Loving and devoted father to Angela (Shane) Tesser. Proud and adoring Papa of Emily and Faith. Kind and caring brother to Neena (Ron) Stauffer. Predeceased by sister Olga and her husband Dan Carson. Predeceased by his parents Dmitro (Maria) Braznik and stepmother Alexandra Braznik. John will be profoundly missed by many extended family and close friends.
A 36-year veteran of the Oshawa Fire Services, finishing his tenure in Fire Prevention. John dedicated his life to serving his community with strength, courage, kindness and compassion. He was honoured with the Firefighter of the year award in 1989.
John enriched the lives he touched with his amazing sense of humour, quick wit and the ability to always make others smile. He would do anything for absolutely anyone, the kindest, most thoughtful and generous person.
John enjoyed making countless memories with his family at Limerick Lake throughout the years. Nothing brought more laughter and joy to his life than spending time with his granddaughters.
John was our pillar of strength, wisdom and unconditional love, leaving an indelible mark on all of our lives. We have lost a truly wonderful person who made a lasting impact on everyone he met. His presence will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing he is finally at peace. His legacy of love will continue to live on in the countless memories we hold close to our hearts.
We will never forget the bravery he showed and the sacrifices he made to always put his family first. We are forever grateful.
