BREWIN, Malcolm John Brewin

Passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, just shy of his 83rd birthday. Malcolm was the beloved husband of Jane for 58 years; a devoted dad to Angela; a cherished father-in-law to Scott; a proud and loving Grandad to Clark and Bennett; and a dear brother-in-law and uncle to loved ones in England.

At age 24, just two weeks after marrying Jane, Malcolm left England with his new bride to begin their life together in Canada. They arrived in Montreal aboard the Empress of Canada after what they remembered as a very bumpy crossing.

A skilled carpenter and meticulous cabinetmaker, Malcolm took great pride in his work and thoughtfully planned every detail. He built many pubs in friends’ homes, including his own basement masterpiece, and enjoyed working with his son-in-law on home-improvement projects. He was always willing to help anyone who needed something built or repaired.

Malcolm became a familiar and valued part of the dance studio community, completing renovations, creating special props and attending countless competitions and recitals in support of Angela and her fellow dancers. At year-end recitals, he could often be found backstage sweeping the floors between routines and keeping the dancers in check with his signature wry smile.

Warm and welcoming, Malcolm greeted everyone with a smile, especially children. He took a genuine interest in others, remembered the details of their lives and always asked how they were doing the next time he saw them. He made everyone feel valued.

In his later years, Malcolm found comfort and friendship at Hope Church in Port Perry. He enjoyed connecting over coffee after services and attending the monthly men’s breakfasts.

Fishing was one of Malcolm’s favourite pastimes, and he enjoyed patiently waiting for the next catch. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He made a point of attending his grandchildren’s special events, always ready to cheer them on.

Malcolm was also an avid sports fan. His heart remained with his hometown football club, Leicester City—“Go Foxes!” He faithfully cheered for the Toronto Blue Jays and continued to follow the Maple Leafs with unwavering hope that this might finally be their year.

His dedication, loyalty, craftsmanship and generous spirit were evident in everything he did. Malcolm leaves behind a lifetime of things carefully built, people gladly helped and memories deeply treasured.
