BROCKWELL, David Baker Brockwell

He passed away peacefully on Saturday May 2, 2026, at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, at the age of 58.

Born in Orillia on October 12, 1967, he became the beloved son of Susan Brockwell and the late Merv Brockwell. Throughout his life, Dave was blessed with the unwavering love and dedication of his parents.

David Baker Brockwell will be forever cherished by his brother Rob (Corry) and his sisters Martha (Dan Auclair) and Marybelle (Jason Randall). He will be deeply missed by his son Katlin (Krista) and his daughter Kira Kerr. Dave will also be fondly remembered by his stepdaughters Michelle Wright and Sheena Cooper, his stepson Wayne Dwinnell, his grandchildren Natalie, Lily, and Tyler, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Dave grew up in Stayner, where he attended Byng Public School and Stayner Collegiate Institute. He later spent many years working in commercial flooring installation throughout Ontario and as far west as British Columbia. Dave took great pride in his craftsmanship, particularly in the design and installation of flooring that remains visible today at the Collingwood Hospital.

Dave resided in Nottawa for over 20 years before returning to Stayner in July 2023. In his younger years, he was well known around town for driving his red 1965 Chevy pickup. In more recent years, Dave enjoyed Wednesday evenings with friends at “Freakin’ at the Beacon,” calling into Rock 95 on Friday nights to make song requests, and spending relaxed evenings at home listening to music or enjoying movies from his extensive DVD collection.

Strong-willed and fiercely independent, Dave was deeply loyal to his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Gandhi for his care over the years, and to the exceptional medical staff at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital for their compassion and dedication during Dave’s final weeks.

Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner, on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A private family service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026. If desired, donations in Dave’s memory to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation (CGMHF) would be appreciated.
