BRODERICK, Larisa Zena is now with her Lord and Saviour after passing away peacefully at Bowmanville Hospital on May 29, 2025.
Born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, oldest of four girls, to Czech immigrant parents, James Koncicky and Stella (Krompholc). After completing Toronto Bible College, she married her husband Norman, and they celebrated their 65th anniversary on October 3, 2024. She was engaged in Christian life from childhood and has regularly attended Trulls Road Church for the past 35+ years. She was a great cook, loved to sing, especially gospel hymns, and was a member of several choirs, engaged in volunteer work in her community, loved to travel anywhere and was creative leaving many sewing, ceramic, floral arrangement and painting projects for her family. She cherished her friends and family and was always available to help and support them. All who knew her well contributed to her owl collection, amounting to well over 300 owls at any one time. She, herself, was wise, knowledgeable and lived a life demonstrating good judgment and careful planning, all symbols of the owl.
She is greatly missed by her beloved husband Norman. She is cherished by her daughter, Wanda Huntington (Larry) of Courtice and her son Brian Broderick (Denise). Loving Nana to grandson James of Oshawa, granddaughter Kayla (Russ) and great grandson, Ethan of Kingston, and granddaughter Cree of Courtice. She is survived by her sister Ruth Stein of British Columbia; sister-in-law Blanche Clayton (Douglas) of Badjeros, Ontario; sister-in-law Gladys Broderick (late husband, Douglas) of Staynor, Ontario; and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Lillian Zeman and Mary Schroyen.
Our family would like to extend our appreciation to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Bowmanville Hospital who provided excellent care during her final days.
On Saturday August 16, 2025, a celebration of her life will be held between 1 and 4 p.m. at White Cliffe Terrace, 1460 Durham Regional Hwy 2, Courtice, with a time of sharing at 1:15 p.m.
Donations in her memory can be made to Charles H Best Diabetes Centre (Tribute Gift); Ontario Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (OPWSA); or Trulls Road Church.
Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I hope you will realize, my pain at last is free.
Miss me a little…but not too long
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me…but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone,
It’s all a part of a master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Just go to some friends you know,
Try burying your sorrows in some good deeds
Miss me…but let me go.
