With his beloved partner and best friend of 27 years, Brenda Lee, by his side, Michael “Mike” Henry Brose passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, just weeks before his 78th birthday.
Mike was lovingly remembered by their daughter Shania McCaffrey and step-son Derek McCaffrey, and was a cherished grandfather to Reign Isabella, Aubrey May, Chloe Tanya-Lee, Aria Bella, and newborn Jaxon Michael.
He is survived by his sister Beverley (Al) Smith and brothers Gary and Ronnie Brose of Saskatchewan. He is also remembered by his mother-in-law MaryAnn McKay of Waterloo, and his extended in-law family Debbie (Gary) Bonneville, Darlene (Bill) Garbalbi, and Ron McCaffrey.
Predeceased by his loyal dog of 18 years, Bella, Mike leaves behind his beloved dog Willow and cats China and Sprinter.
A skilled Industrial Millwright, Mike worked passionately until his retirement at 70. He was a true jack-of-all-trades, always lending a hand and fixing whatever needed attention.
Gardening with Brenda Lee was their shared joy, and he cherished time spent with family at their cottage and summers at the trailer park in Cambridge.
Mike enjoyed brain games on the computer and western films in his retirement. He found great comfort in returning to their cottage in his final weeks.
Brenda Lee extends heartfelt thanks to Gabe and Logan Trepaniar for their unwavering support, as well as the compassionate care provided by Bluewater Health, Bayshore Home Health, Dr. E. Lilly, Amanda, Dr. Yoshida, and countless other agencies.
As per Mike’s wishes, a private family viewing and cremation have taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
