BROWN, Maureen Brown
September 6, 1934 - August 17, 2026
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of Maureen Brown of Uxbridge.Β Maureen was born in Montreal but came to the GTA by way of Temiskaming Quebec.
Maureen attended Branksome Hall in Toronto for high school and then went on to the Ontario College of Art and Design where she met Huntley Brown.Β She was married to Huntley, who became a renowned artist, and was his soulmate for more than 65 years until his passing in 2022.
Maureen was the ultimate Mom to her four children and demonstrated every day the gift of unconditional love.Β She showed her love through her cooking, crafting and sewing which we all enjoyed throughout our lives and now share with subsequent generations. She was an award-winning baker who gifted her children with a love of good home cooking.
Maureen & Huntley moved to Uxbridge in the 90βs to be close to children and grandchildren, having raised their children in Markham, Ontario.Β Β She is survived by her children Russ, Sherry, Laura and Kathleen and her 8 grandchildren, Huntley, Trish, Harrison, Kendra, Patrick, Hayley, Lily and Archie along with her great grandchildren Patrick and Hugh.Β Her grandchildren valued her hip attitude toward life and her incredible ability to stay current even up to her last days.
Maureen was the consummate matriarch, the powerhouse of a big, bold family of overachievers.Β She taught us, inspired us, comforted us and held us close to her heart throughout her life.Β She was our best friend as well as our loving mother.
We will miss her.Β We are thankful we were gifted with having her with us well into her 92nd year.Β Β The world is a more beautiful place for her existence, and we will watch the sky each day to see if the cloudβs meet her artistβs eye.
