BROWN, Shirley Mae Brown (nee Pollock)

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, having just celebrated her 88th birthday.

Devoted wife of the late Gerry and mother of Janet (John), Bruce (Claudia), David (Kathryn), and Jill (Jeff). Mother-in-law of Jillian.

Proud grandmother of Jeremy, Katie (Chris); Liberty (Liam), Darren, Everett; Christian (Rachael), Eric (Joy), Andrew (Ava), Alex (Shaylee); and Melissa. Proud great-grandmother to Kendal, Scott, Dallas and Henry.

Shirley will be missed by many extended family members and friends.

Born in Bowmanville, Shirley raised her family on Browview Farm in Newcastle. She was actively involved at Trinity United Church, the Women’s Institute, Orono Fair flower committee, Back Seat Drivers (SPEBSQSA) and within the farming community. Shirley was a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels and brought comfort through music as a piano accompanist for Trinity’s church services in local nursing homes. Shirley was always a teacher at heart, encouraging her children and grandchildren to be lifelong learners and nurturing a love of music across generations. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held in August; further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
