It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dana on August 13th, 2025, surrounded by his close friends and family at the Sault Area Hospital.
Predeceased by his parents, the late Marjorie Smith who he lovingly called “Ma”, and Jim Burns. He is survived by his brothers, Micheal and Donald.
Loving father of Cameron Burns (Melissa Novel) and Lindsay Burns (Kyle Eisner). Remembered by his beloved grandchildren Ewan, Ronan and Duncan Burns.
Dana had a lifelong love for music, bluegrass and country in particular. He was known for his colorful vocabulary, and unique sense of humor, making everyone laugh around him. He was a true jack-of-all-trades and could fix almost anything. He liked to spend his time with his beloved dog BB at his home that he built, growing vegetables, building things and relaxing in the sauna. His warmth, generosity and easygoing nature touched the lives of everyone around him.
In keeping with Dana’s wishes, no service will be held. Celebrate his life as you see fit. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
