BYERS, Lila May Byers

Passed peacefully at North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She was 87 years old.

Lila (Grawbarger) was predeceased only six months previously by her husband of 69 years, Lawrence Byers (1932-2025).  She was the beloved mother of Bonnie Connell (Allan) of Bruce Mines, Penny Etherington (Jim) of Thunder Bay, and Jerry Byers (Jennifer) of Callander.

She will be lovingly remembered by six grandchildren: Jeffery Connell, Kevin Connell (Katie), Shane MacDonald (Courtney), Amanda DeCorte (BJ), Alex Byers (Brianna), and Dakota Byers (Ayden); and 10 great-grandchildren: Diezel, Mack, Jake, Zak, Chase, Trenton, Payton, Emma, Benson and Cassidy. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Zoey.

Lila was predeceased by her parents Anna May (Peever) and Gordon Grawbarger, and by her siblings Priscilla Martin (the late Ed), Nellie Kendrew (the late Ken), Priscilla Martin (the late Ed), Estella Vincent (the late Bob), Lloyd Grawbarger (Silvia) and Vernon Grawbarger (Bernice, surviving).

The Byers family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Tuesday, February 10 from 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday, February 11 from 10 to 11 am.  The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 am and will be live-streamed (please see below).  Spring interment will take place at Nipissing Cemetery on May 8, 2026 at 11:00 am.
