BYRNE, Elizabeth Byrne

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our amazing Mom Betty Byrne. She was born in Oshawa on October 4, 1930 to Michael and Maria Barta. On June 10, 1950, Betty married the love of her life Leonard Byrne (deceased). She was a loving mother to Lorrie (Thomas Uhlig), Lynda Holla (Charlie), John (Lori) and Tom (Diana). Betty adored her grandchildren: Jan McFarland (Chad), Matthew Holla (Jesara), Mark Holla (Crystal); Kristyn and Chantalle (Jon Rainbow) Byrne; Marise, Roselle, Timara (Andrew Nieuwhof) Uhlig and Brittany Pegg. Cherished Great-Grandmother to Nolan Ord, Jackson and Gavin McFarland; Kaitlyn, Aiden and Charlotte Holla; and Parker Nieuwhof. Betty was the sister of Jack Barta (Barb) and predeceased by Lui (Berneice), Helen Morrison (Mike), Bill (Clare), Steve (Emily) and Margaret Avery. Betty was a loving Aunt and Great-Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Betty was kind, welcoming and brought joy to everyone she met. She loved bingo, scratch cards and casinos, always hoping for that big win! Many games of euchre & cribbage were played around her kitchen table. She was a wonderful cook and there was always yummy food and treats at her house!

Over the past few years Betty has frequently said, “I’ve had a wonderful life!” She attributed her longevity to eating honey and not worrying about anything! Now, reunited with her beloved Len and her family & friends, may she fly with the Angels and be at peace in the loving arms of God.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend for visitation at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 8 at 12 p.m., with visitation one hour before.
