CARRUTHERS, Janet Carruthers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Carruthers on May 24, 2026 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa at the age of 89. Her journey, which began on December 13, 1936, in Glasgow, Scotland, was defined by a spirit that touched countless lives. Janet was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished granny, great-granny, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Beloved wife of the late Harry Carruthers. Loving mother of Dave (Jan) Carruthers, Karen (Rick) Racioppa, and the late Alan (Sharon) Carruthers. Cherished granny of Steve (Chantal), Mike (Jen), Derek (Sam), Val (Celia), Alex (Kirsten), Sarah and Alan. Adored great-granny to Lily, Jack, Tabitha, Fredrick, Piper, Callum, Savannah, Carter, Alexandra and Spencer.

Janet will also be fondly remembered by dear sister-in-law Irene and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends both here and abroad.

Janet was so kind, generous, selfless, and loving. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness and lit up every room she walked into.

Family meant everything to Janet. She always put others first, brought people together and had a way of making everyone feel special and so valued. Her unconditional love and light will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and loving her.

Visitation will be held at the De Stefano Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate Janet’s Life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm.
