Peacefully passed away, surrounded by his loving family at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 80 years of age.
Beloved husband of Maria for 54 years. Loving father of Rick (Eve) and Jill. Proud Opa of Adam, David and Sarah. Dear brother of Lieke, Wim (Elly), Len (Jan), Ton (Anneliese), Anke, Connie (Koos), late Peter, Sjaak and Ellie (Marten) and their beloved families.
Casey Van Wissen was born in Voorschoten, Holland in 1946. He immigrated to Ontario, Canada with his family in 1977.
He had a way of making everyone he met feel welcome and loved. He was one of those rare people who left a little piece of himself with everyone he came into contact with.
He loved the rain, birds, animals, fishing, and a good hand of cards. He loved creating things with his own two hands, always finding something to build, fix, make, or simply enjoy.
But more than anything, Casey loved people-and he was loved right back. His kindness, laughter, stories, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
So when you see a bird soaring across the sky, hear the patter of rain, or pick up a hand of cards, think of Casey.
He may have left this world, but the love he gave us will never leave.
Fly high, Casey. You were loved by everybody you touched, and you will be cherished forever.
A memorial gathering will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 2-4 p.m.
In Casey’s memory, donations may be made to Margaret Bahen Hospice.
