It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Caterina La Torre, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, Nonna, Zia, and friend whose warmth touched so many lives.
Caterina passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at the age of 68, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph La Torre and devoted mother to Anthony and Rosemary (Nick) Kottis. She is lovingly remembered by her mother Gilda Deligio and late father Vito Grazio Deligio. She is pre deceased by her in-laws Raffaele and Rosetta La Torre.
She was a cherished sister to Carmela (Donato) DeFilippis, Vito (Doriana) Deligio and Tonia (Enrico), Osso. Dear sister in law to Angela (Tony) Morra. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren; Olivia, Gabriella, Natalie and Steven. She treasured her many nieces and nephews, Vito, Joseph, Nancy, Victor, Daniel, Nicholas, John, Victoria and Sophia and their families loved nothing more than seeing her extended family gathered together.
A dedicated teacher, a truly compassionate soul, and a constant source of positivity, she made a lasting difference in the lives of so many, both throughout her teaching career and beyond. Her endless empathy and ability to see the good in everyone were among her most treasured qualities. She had a remarkable ability for making others feel heard, understood, and appreciated, always offering warmth, encouragement, and comfort to those fortunate enough to know her.
Even in the challenging moment, she carried a positive outlook and a quiet strength that uplifted those around her. Her warmth, generosity, and compassion left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Her legacy lives on in the many lives she shaped, the hearts she touched, and the countless acts of kindness she inspired. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the light she brought into the world will never be forgotten.
