Catheryne Ann Giles

It is with great sadness that we announced the passing of Catheryne Ann Giles who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Cathy leaves for long time partner Rick Harper. She will lovely be remembered by her children, Michael Gryzelak, Stephen (Jennifer) Gryzelak, and PJ (Rachael) Giles. A very proud grandmother to Courtney (Alex Choo Chung) Gryzelak, Michaela Gryzelak, Rhys Vanderzon, Chloe Vanderzon Nathan Giles and Kendra Giles. Beloved Great- Grandmother to Kai, Olivia, Anastasia and Saphira Choo-Chung. Cathy will be deeply missed by her siblings, Janice (Ken) Upton, Susan (Edward) Gryzelak, Raymond (Sandi) Knapp, and Candace (Will pre-deceased) Dove, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Cathy‘s greatest joys were her family and the love they shared will remain in their hearts forever. Cathy was a proud and long-standing member of the RCL Beaverton Branch #135. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering. Her love of playing cards, darts and pool brought a lot of joy. The monthly “domino nights” with her friends and family lots of laughs, food, drink and costumes were always a huge hit. Many great memories were made, and Cathy got to bond with her sisters. On behalf of the family, We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Soldiers Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care of Cathy. To her healthcare team, “Thank you” Dr. Kasimos, her family doctor, Tammy and Home care PSW, Chris her home care paramedic and McKenzie her home care nurse. We her family are extremely grateful for the love and care you gave Cathy. It was exceptional. Thank you. A private family service will be held at St. John’s of Norway in Toronto at a later date. Cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 1st from 1p.m. – 3p.m. at the Beaverton Legion branch #135 in lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Brock Community Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
