CIPRIANI, Gabriele Cipriani

It is with tender hearts we announce the passing of Gabriele on July 8, 2025 in Waterloo at the age of 85. Loving husband of Angeline, cherished father of Anna Marie (Andrew Scheifele), and loving Nonno to Kalena.

Gabriele Cipriani was born on June 17, 1940 in Fontecchio, L’Aquila, Italy to parents Felice Cipriani and Anna Pellegrini. The second eldest of five children – Dino (deceased), Vincenzo (Voichita), Concetta (late Gennaro De Michele) and Inez (Ascenzo Latini).

At the age of 18 he immigrated to France where he lived in Metz for ten years and worked as a millwright. He then immigrated to Canada on the Cristoforo Colombo leaving Napoli on May 28, 1968, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax on June 5, 1968. He settled in Hamilton where his brother and sister resided.

He married Angeline Paluzzi in 1970 and was blessed with one child, Anna Marie (Andrew Scheifele), and granddaughter Kalena. He enjoyed family life surrounded by the love and good food (especially pasta) of his mother and father-in-law (late Tina and Marco Paluzzi) and sister and brother-in-law (late Josie and Saverio Susany) and their children.

He worked as a welder at National Steel Car Ltd. for 31 years. He found solace in nature and in his garden. His heart was generous, his smile handsome, and his hands often busy tinkering.

Visitation will take place at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel (43 Barton St E, Hamilton) on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (620 Rymal Rd. E) at 11 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow directly in the church hall after mass. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (600 Spring Gardens Rd.), in Burlington, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Forest 1.
