CLEAT, John Briggs CLEAT

Born on May 19, 1947, in Edinburgh, Scotland, John carried his Scottish roots with pride throughout his life. In 1968, he immigrated to Canada with his beloved wife, Wilma E. Kennedy, embarking on a new chapter filled with opportunity, family, and lasting friendships.

John was a devoted and cherished father to Nicole and her husband, Dave Olsen. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Logan and his fiancée, Angel Gale, and to Paige Olsen. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his niece, Donia and her husband Alan Whyte, and by his nephew, Alan Cleat. John was predeceased by his parents, James and Janet (Briggs) Cleat; his brother, Jim Cleat; and his sister-in-law, Lenore.

Professionally, John worked as a dedicated Software Analyst, applying his keen intellect and problem-solving skills throughout his career. Beyond his work, he embraced life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for music and found joy in cooking for those he loved. An avid bird watcher, John held a special fascination for loons and puffins, often delighting in observing their quiet beauty in nature.

John will be remembered for his gentle spirit, thoughtful nature, and enduring love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

As per his wishes, no services will be held. Cremation will take place.

Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society through the funeral home.
