Susan Connelly

Passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, after a period of illness. Born in Inverness, Scotland on May 11th, 1945, Susan Valerie Connelly (née Roberts) of Owen Sound was in her 81st year.

After immigrating to Canada, Sue worked as an art teacher, sharing her love of creativity and artistic expression. She had a true, deep passion for being an artist. Her creativity inspired those around her and will remain a lasting part of her legacy. She later ran a successful business with her partner, Lucile, painting and selling animal portraits on pebbles and stones before retiring to Flesherton, Ontario.

An avid horticulturist, Sue found peace and purpose among her flowers and gardens. She volunteered with the Grey County Master Gardeners for 17 years, providing horticultural education to home gardeners and community groups while giving generously of her time to the community. She was also a member of the Grey Bruce Pride group for several years and served as an Exercise and Fall Prevention Class leader with VON Grey Bruce for 10 years.

Predeceased by her beloved life partner, Lucile Renaud (née Bastedo), of 33 years, and by her parents, Frank and Evelyn (née Hartly) Roberts.

Cherished grandma of Meagan (Brandon) of Cambridge and Tessa (Bill) of Victoria Harbour. Sue will also be dearly missed by her great-grandchildren, Shauna and Keri, as well as the many wonderful friends she made throughout her incredible life journey.

A memorial service to celebrate Susan Connelly life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ontariospca.ca), World Wildlife Fund Canada (wwf.ca), or the Canadian Wildlife Federation (cwf-fcf.org) would be appreciated.
