COONEY, Robert Thomas Cooney

He of Cannington, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital, August 13, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. Robert Thomas Cooney was a dedicated employee of Rohm and Haas Canada for 44 years with various positions in production and as a maintenance mechanic. Rob was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, riding as often as possible, taking many long road trips, making wonderful memories along the way. As an active member of the community he served Scouts Canada for many years, and most recently enjoyed being a member of the Lions Club. He loved his vegetable garden and tinkering in his garage. Born in West Hill, Ontario on March 29, 1955, he was the son of the late Thomas and Isobel Cooney. Rob had six siblings, Mary (predeceased) and her husband David (predeceased), Diane (predeceased) and her husband Dave (predeceased), Jim (Joyce), Eileen and her husband Rick (predeceased), Laura (Joe) and Rita (Dale). Rob is survived by Debra, his beloved wife, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. He was a loving father to their three children, Loraine (Alan), Ryan and Steven (Jess) and their five grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Kaitlyn, William and Aria.

A celebration of Rob’s life will take place on Saturday, August 29th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. at the Cannington Lions Club, 24 Laidlaw Street South, Cannington, ON, L0E 1E0. Casual or Harley-Davidson attire would be welcome.
