ALVES, Orminda (née Cordeiro) – Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 5, 2025, in her 92nd year.

Beloved and devoted wife of Jose for 63 years. Cherished mother of Lucy (Allan) and Nelia (Michael), and loving grandmother to her adored fur babies, Sparky and Finnigan.

Orminda was predeceased by her parents, Jose and Maria da Luz Cordeiro, her siblings Manuel, Daniel, Jose, Francisco, Cizaltina, Francelina, and son-in-law Michael. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many friends.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mark Brown, the Palliative Team, and PSWs Susie, Luisa, and Lorna for their compassionate care.

Visitation will take place at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street N., Cambridge on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 6–9 p.m., with the recital of the rosary at 8:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 53 Wellington St., Cambridge on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Orminda’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Diabetes Canada, or Canadian Food For Children.
