Darren Orvus Smith died peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on September 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 61 and was surrounded by his wife, Karen; his son, Jeffery; and his granddaughter, Kaily.
Born in Bowmanville, Ontario, on November 26, 1964, Darren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen; his children Gerald, Cindy, Stephane and Jeffery; his grandchildren Kaily, Kennedy, Cameron, Abigail, Alexander and Daisy; and his great-grandson, Dallas. Darren is also remembered by his brothers, Chris and Rick. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Tamara.
His family remembers a strong and loving man who would do anything for them. Darren faced illness with determination and courage, and he will be remembered for his humour, devotion to family and belief in the importance of laughter.
A celebration of Darren’s life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church in Grafton on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
His memory will live on in the family he loved so deeply.
