It is with great sadness to share that Lily Elizabeth Davie passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 2, 2025. Lil was born in Murraydale, SK to Gotthielf and Caroline Sturm (Freimuth) and was number five of ten children. During her school-age years, the Sturms moved to Creston, BC where Lil continued her education and built strong relationships with her family. Lil met John one evening on a double date with her sister Rose and brother-in-law Gord. When John and Lil married, they moved to Calgary, AB where they began their careers and started their family. Aside from the full-time job of raising three busy boys, Lil also found success as an Electrolux vacuum salesperson and real-estate agent.
Lil and John enjoyed the opportunity to move across Canada for work before retiring to Cobourg, ON in 1993. In Cobourg, Lil and John became very involved in the community and formed many lasting friendships. Together they enjoyed lawn bowling, bridge, gardening, traveling, and hosting their loved ones. Lil also developed a gift for painting and most enjoyed painting landscapes, flowers, and birds.
Lil was predeceased by her good husband, John, after 67 years of marriage, as well as siblings Rose, Gus, Al, and Vera. She is survived by her three boys, Brent (Patrice), Doug (Toni), and Ron (Robine); six grandchildren, Kyra Kent (Ryan), Taylor, Mason (Rosie), Brianna, Christopher, and Amber; and four great-grandchildren, Logan, Celia, Cressida, and Corina. She is also survived by her remaining siblings Adeline, Ray, Bill, Ella, and Shirley.
Lil was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and cherished friend to many. She often reflected on happy memories with her loved ones and felt very blessed for the life she lived. She will be greatly missed.
