It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Denise Brenda Traviss (nee: Miller) at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Monday August 24th, 2026, at the age of 70. Denise was born in Orillia and predeceased by her parents George and Marjorie Miller. Beloved wife of Brian Traviss for 49 years. Loving mother of Justin (& partner Alison), and mother to Trever Gill. Grandmother of Raine, and cherished aunt to Troy. Dear Sister of Lorraine Earl (Jerry), both pre-deceased, and Darlene Henderson (Vic). Beloved life-long friend to Nancy and Ted Hill. The family would like to thank the staff at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital and especially Dr. Peter Daniel, for their unwavering compassion and support. Brian would also like to offer a special thank you to Alison Oldfield, whose help and expertise can never be overstated. Denise’s family invites everyone to take part in a celebration of life, on Friday, August 28. Service will start at 11am, followed by reception, concluding at 1pm. Location is Simcoe Funeral Home (38 James St. E, Orillia). Feel free to join us and share your memories of Denise. Please dress as you feel most comfortable (casual, semi-casual, formal, whatever you like). If desired, donations may be made in Denise’s name to the Green Haven Shelter for Women or the Comfie Cat Shelter, through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E Orillia (705) 327-0221.
