DIGNAN, Jane Ellen Dignan (Whitlock)

Passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital with her family by her side. Jane was the youngest of eight children of Alfred and Emma Whitlock (née Stripling). She is predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Edward Dignan.

Jane is also predeceased by several of her siblings: Jim and Gladys Chisholm (née Whitlock), Ken and Doreen Mulholland (née Whitlock), Bob and Irene Atkinson (née Whitlock), Murray and Evelyn Rathbone (née Whitlock), and her brother Alfred and Violet Whitlock. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Winnifred (and the late Joseph Occhipinti) and Doris Scott (née Whitlock).

Jane was the dear mother of Vincent and Heather Dignan (née Copland), Theresa Gibson (née Dignan) and Grant Gibson. She was predeceased by her children Mark Dignan (and Shirley née Biastoch), and Matthew Dignan (and Tracy née Pingle).

A cherished Nana to Michael and Tammy Laurin (née Dignan), Holly Dignan, Benjamin Dignan, Madeline (née Dignan) and Adam Johnstone, Stephen Arsenault and Rachel Vissers, David and Lauren Gibson (née Parker), Cameron and Jennifer Gibson (née Cottrell), Samantha Dignan and Julien Cloutier, Robert Dignan, and Gabrielle Dignan.

Jane was a loving Great Nana to Alexander and Brooklyn Laurin, Garrick and Audrey Johnstone, Callan and Wesley Gibson, and Ruby and Vivienne Gibson. She was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and service will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby, ON L1M 1W9, on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025. Times for visitation and service will be announced once confirmed.
