Mayhew, Donald Joseph passed peacefully at Lakeridge Gardens Nursing Home in Ajax Ontario September 2, 2026 in his 86th year.
Don was married to his devoted wife, Evelyn (Vader) for 65 years and resided most of those years in Newcastle, Ontario where they raised three sons; Tim (Jackie) Haliburton; Terry (Joy) Bowmanville; and predeceased by Tom in 2022. Grandpa and Great-grandpa to 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lakeridge Gardens Nursing Home for their kindness and compassionate care of Don the last four years.
Don worked hard his entire life as a self-employed welder (Don Mayhew Welding) and was incredibly proud of growing a prosperous business. He loved hunting, especially moose and travelled to many places in Ontario to enjoy this endeavor.
He was a long standing member of Newcastle Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation to his church would be appreciated by the family.
As per Don’ wishes Cremation has taken place. A private interment is to be held at Bond Head Cemetery in Newcastle at a later date.
