It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Jane Grylls on September 19, 2026, at the age of 66.
Donna was a proud mother to Adam Loney and Frances Martin (Nicholas). She was a devoted and cherished Grammie to Eleanor and Warren Martin, who brought great joy and love to her life. Donna is survived by her siblings: Pamella McCormack (Peter); Debbie Kuiken (Clarence); Sandra Grylls (Michael); William Grylls (Katie); Brian Grylls (Susan); and Dorothy Joy McCormick (late Dan), as well as her extended family and many friends whose lives she touched.
Donna was, in her own words, a “Renaissance Woman.” She loved learning, creating, and embracing new experiences, with a particular interest in engineering, history, and architecture. She appreciated natural materials and quality craftsmanship. Her curiosity led her back to school later in life, where she earned a diploma in power engineering.
Donna treasured time with her grandchildren, sharing adventures and creating special keepsakes. She enjoyed researching her family history, gardening, working with her hands, cooking, and travelling. Most of all, Donna was kind and generous. She cared deeply for the people she loved and was always ready to help by giving her time and talents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Gerrard Rd., Whitby. Family and friends are welcome to come together to remember Donna, share stories, and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Home Children Canada (formerly British Home Children in Canada) or the Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society.
Donna will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
