It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Jean English on September 3rd, 2026, peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, in her 91st year.
Dorothy was a cherished Mother and Grandmother. Pre-deceased by her parents, siblings, and daughter Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter Ramona-Lisa (Stephen), grandson Lee (Melissa) and great-grandchildren (Layla and Brooklyn).
Until recently, Dorothy lived in Oshawa for most of her life. She deeply loved her family, enjoyed going on drives in the country, having coffee or dinner with family and friends, attending church, singing and listening to music and hymns, watching “Your All Time Classic Hit Parade” on TV and big band music. In her younger years she enjoyed going out dancing. She also loved working on crossword puzzles until her eyesight failed.
We would like to thank the staff at Glen Hill Strathaven (now Glen Hill Gardens) and the staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, 2nd floor, for their care of Dorothy in her final years and days.
We will miss her dearly, but we will always remember her love, her kindness and her smile. Dorothy is now at peace and with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
A one-hour visitation will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby on Friday, September 11th, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a few words at the graveside for those who wish to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
