It is with love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Eddy Wong, a beloved father, grandfather, family member, and friend.
Eddy was born in Hong Kong on September 29, 1946. He lost his father at a young age and stepped up to help care for his family, including his younger brother, growing up quickly and carrying a devotion to family that would define the rest of his life.
He was the first in his family to leave Hong Kong, arriving in Canada with courage and a dream. He studied at McGill University and the University of Alberta before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Western University, and he practiced dentistry in Vancouver from 1976 to 2014, caring for his patients and community.
Eddy loved the Vancouver Canucks, skiing, and motor boating. He was a gifted piano player and a joyful traveler of the world. Above all, he was an optimist, and he was adored by his friends and family alike.
More than anything, Eddy was a devoted father and grandfather, endlessly proud of his family. He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Philip) and Ellen (Mel); his grandchildren, Kieran, Elliot, Izzi, and Lochlan; his former wife, Jenny; and his loving partner, Melissa. He was predeceased by his parents.
He passed peacefully in Vancouver, at the age of 79, surrounded by loved ones. He will be deeply loved, deeply missed, and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home, 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Eddy by spending time with the people you love.
