DRUMMOND, Robert Bruce Drummond
March 5, 1947 - November 16, 2025It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Drummond, on Sunday November 16th, at Oshawa hospital where he passed peacefully surrounded by his family, after a long, courageous battle with dementia.
Bob of Bowmanville, in his 79th year, and beloved husband and best friend of Barb for over 53 years (nee Jackson). Father of Michael (Kathie), David (Paula) and Paul (Laura). Cherished Afi of Alieyah, Nick, Savannah, Evan, Payton, Austin, Corbin & Hudson. Brother of Pat Drummond of Coe Hill and son of the late George & Jennie (Johnson).
Dear brother-in-law of Margaret Newell (Paul) of Port Perry, Deborah Storey (Kurrie) of Whitby, Ken Jackson (Louise) of Etobicoke, Tina Jennings (David) of Oshawa and the late Susan Jackson. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
Bob was born on March 5th 1947, and was youngest of two children. He grew up in Scarborough, where as a young boy he loved playing hockey and baseball and was always with his buddies. Many of whom he remained in contact with until his illness didn’t allow for it. His love of being on the ice carried through into his later years when he started refereeing minor hockey, which he did from the time he was in his late teens and for about 30 years thereafter.
Bob started working at the TTC in the early ’70’s. He quickly worked his way up and ultimately to Transit Control Management from which he retired in 2010 after nearly 40 years of service.
After retirement, Bob devoted his time to the things he loved most in his life – travel (especially cruising), baseball and his family. Even in his final weeks of life, he didn’t miss a single inning of the Blue Jays latest playoff run.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Make a Wish foundation or to the Ronald Mcdonald House.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
