DUFFELL, Rosemary Virginia Duffell

She passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates on July 9, 2026, in her 95th year. Predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years Francis Duffell (Frank). She is also predeceased by her 6 brothers Richard, Bernard, John, Harry, James and Joseph and her younger sister Eleanore Worona, and by Frank’s sister Sylvia Stewart. She is survived by her sister-in-law Anne Lack and her brother-in-law Joseph Worona. She will be missed by her many Lack, Worona, and Stewart nieces and nephews and their respective families.

Rosemary was born in Oshawa to the late Robert and Josie Lack. She often spoke of growing up in their kind, loving and generous care, surrounded by her lively and endearing siblings. Rosemary worked in Oshawa at the Parts and Service Office at General Motors. After she and Frank married, they moved to Ottawa. There she worked for the E.B. Eddy Paper Company as an administrative assistant. When she and Frank moved to Scarborough for his job, Rosemary’s employer conveniently transferred her employment to Toronto. She continued working for the Eddy Company and then its successor, the Weston Group, until her retirement. In later years, Rosemary kept busy with volunteer work and with her wide circle of friends and family. She was always interested in everyone’s progress. She never missed sending birthday or special occasion greetings, an unfailing tradition for her.

Rosemary was a pleasant, energetic and witty person who made friends wherever she went. Her interests varied from gardening, cooking and the Toronto Blue Jays to the Symphony and the Royal Ontario Museum. Her faith and her family were top on her list. She loved living in the Toronto area. She moved to Oshawa in her declining years to be close to family. Hillsdale Estates provided a wonderful environment for her. The care which she received there was exceptional at all levels, for which her family is very grateful.
