Passed away peacefully at his home in Orillia with family by his side on Thursday May 7th, 2026, at the age of 85. Michael David Dunn was born in Toronto and predeceased by his parents William and Clara Dunn. Beloved husband of Janet (nee Hall) for 59 years. Loving father of Christine Dunn (Craig Maltby), Philip Dunn-predeceased, David Dunn (Ercris), and Marianne Dunn. Proud grandfather of Kathryn, Elizabeth, Amythist (Michael), Sapphire, Luke-predeceased, and Nicole (Lucas). Dear brother of William-predeceased (Sonja), Mary McTeague (Frank)-both predeceased, and Helen Downey. Mike worked for Bell Canada for 30 years. In retirement he pursued his love of golf becoming the Senior Menβs Champion one year when he was a member of Brooklea Golf and Country Club in Midland. He became more involved in church activities. He enjoyed his time working with clients through the St Vincent de Paul Society and served as President of both the St Margaret’s council in Midland and the Huronia Particular Council. He volunteered time with the Good Food Box program, attended mass daily and walked many kilometers most days. Mike was a warm caring person with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, kind words, mischievous nature, interest in sports and especially his love for his family. Michael will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia on Monday May 11 from 6 until 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 115 West Street N. Orillia on Tuesday May 12th, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall, where all are welcome to share fond memories. A private family burial will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Michaelβs name to the Mariposa House Hospice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
