EBEL, Wilma Ebel

Passed away peacefully at Brightshores Hospital in Owen Sound on September 30, 2025, in her 91st year. Born on August 17, 1935, in Collingwood Township, Wilma lived a life marked by compassion, faith, and service.

She was the beloved wife of J. Herbert Ebel, and a devoted mother to Brad Ebel (Lisa) of Oakville and Andrea Ebel Brozyna (Robert) of Etobicoke. Cherished grandmother of David Ebel, Nathan Ebel (Jaqueline), Jacob Brozyna, and Simon Brozyna. Wilma is also lovingly remembered by her brother Bill Andrus (Donna) of Stratford, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Wilma was predeceased by her parents, Edmund Andrus and Irene Andrus (née Atkins), her brother Laverne Andrus (Lois), and her sister Verna Ruth Andrus.

A registered nurse by profession, Wilma brought comfort and care to countless lives. Her deep faith guided her involvement in her church and numerous interdenominational organizations such as Women Aglow and the Mission Thrift Store. She found joy in painting, gardening, family history, and solving puzzles – interests she shared generously with those around her.

Wilma’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Kelso Villa, her dedicated family physician Dr. Dafe, as well as Dr. Besik, and nurses Hazel, Sabrina, and George at Brightshores Hospital for their exceptional care.

A funeral service to celebrate Wilma’s life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W. Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. A private family interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound.
