EDGETT, Allan Edwin Edgett
July 3, 1941 - July 28, 2026
He was born on July 3, 1941, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Allan Edwin “Sonny” Edgett passed peacefully from this life on July 28, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 85. Allan is now reunited with his cherished wife, Natalie Ann Edgett (née Nice), his father Harold Edgett, his mother Mary Clare Edgett (née Hodd) and his sister Jean Edgett.
Cherished father of Jennifer Ryckman (Steve) and Sherry Baugh (Ed). Proud and loving grandfather of Sheena Ryckman (Chris), Sabryna Perry, Matthew Perry, Alex Baugh, and Jesse Baugh, and devoted great-grandfather of Ella Ryckman, Ayden Ryckman, Jerome Perry-Reeves, Shyla Lombard, Lillian Lombard, and Nolen Baugh.
Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Allan carried his Maritime roots with him throughout his life. Although he later made Ontario his home, he never lost his appreciation for the simple pleasures that reminded him of where he came from—a good feed of lobster, time spent sailing on the sea with the Navy, the taste of sweet saltwater taffy or salty dulse. Although he was a quiet man, he had many stories to tell from the many places he visited around the world.
Allan was an active member of his community, dedicating many years to the Dundas Jaycees and the Dundas Curling Club. Professionally, he enjoyed a long and successful career as a Chartered Accountant, operating his own private practice for many years. Whether balancing numbers, smacking a golf ball or two on a sunny afternoon or appreciating the beauty of animals and flowers, Allan approached everything he did with care, precision, and pride.
To those who knew him best, Sonny will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humour, his love for a good book, a glass of dark beer, a lucky scratch ticket, and the countless laughs he brought to others. His love of sightseeing reflected his appreciation for beauty of nature, while his lifelong fascination with numbers spoke to the sharp and analytical mind that served him so well throughout his career. No puzzle was ever too hard to solve.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home, Paris, Ontario. In accordance with Allan’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family graveside service will be held. In Allan’s memory, donations to Stedman Community Hospice would be appreciated by his family.
