Edward “Guy” Arsenault

Owner of Guy Arsenault Carpentry, passed away peacefully at Trillium Manor in Orillia with family by his side on Wednesday August 19th, 2026, at the age of 88. Guy was born in Atholville New Brunswick and moved with his parents Edward and Margaret, and his 3 sisters to Ontario when he was 12. He grew up in Toronto and moved to Orillia in 1968 with his wife and at the time 3 young children. His family grew by 4 more while in Orillia. Beloved husband of Lynn (nee Foxcroft) for 62 years. Guy will be missed by his children, Michele Wiley (late Bruce), late Mark (Carleen), Paul (Nadia), Steve (Robyn Liechti), Andrew (Jaime), Denise Galang (Stephen), Joel (Deanna Romano) as well as his sisters Denise Bolderson, Ginette Arsenault, Margaret Kinischuk and his brother-in-law Richard Foxcroft (Louise). He was grandfather to 17 and great-grandfather to 11. A talented carpenter by trade, Guy worked in the Orillia area for almost 50 years. Some of his renovation work included the Leacock Museum, NHL players cottages, KFC, McDonald’s, and some local historical homes, one of which was used to film a movie! Guy loved the outdoors and spent many happy times camping with his family in Algonquin Park, and he loved to fish. However, playing cards, especially cribbage was a passion. In fact, if your last name was Arsenault, you played cribbage, including the grandchildren. If you didn’t know how to play he would teach you on one of his large collection of different boards. Guy also loved his gardens, both flowers and vegetables. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Guy was strengthened and comforted by God’s promise of a future resurrection. Guy is remembered by many friends for his hospitality, including his awesome Western sandwiches made fresh Saturday mornings for anyone who happened to be there at the time, and especially popular at his annual garage sales. Our family would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Trillium Manor who lovingly cared for Guy and still cares for Lynn, for almost 10 years. We would also like to thank Dr. Geoffrey Grieve for his guidance and exceptional care of Guy. As per Guy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Saturday August 29th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 519 Laclie Street, Orillia, at 2:30 pm Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca
