Edward Thomas Soltys, 81, of Campbell River, BC, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 12, 1945, to Louis and Ann Soltys, Edward grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Inspired by tales in field and stream magazines and drawn by the majesty of Canada’s wild West Coast, he left Winnipeg after completing trade school to forge a new life in British Columbia.
It was on the West Coast that Edward built a fulfilling career as a skilled industrial electrician, working across various regions of the province. More importantly, it was here that he met the love of his life, Trina. Together, they shared decades of adventure, navigating the natural ups and downs of life along the coast. An avid outdoorsman, Edward embraced everything the region had to offer, finding joy in fishing, scuba diving, and skiing.
Edward touched many lives, instilling a sense of wonder, independence, and practical wisdom in his children. He took great pride in passing along the life skills he had gathered over a full and vibrant journey. The magic of Vancouver Island that first captured Edward’s heart years ago eventually drew both of his children back to raise their own families, creating a lasting family legacy on the island he loved so dearly.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Trina; his daughter, Natascha (Jones), her husband Ryan, and their children, Brooklyn and Gabriella; and his son, Kent, his wife Candace, and their children Kaiden, Keira, and Kellan.
A service to celebrate Edward’s life will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Peter Anglican Church, located at 228 S. Dogwood Street, Campbell River.
