Peacefully, at St. Thomas Hospital, on Tuesday February 17th, 2026, Linda Elijah (nee Sickles) of Oneida Nation in her 78th year.

Beloved wife of the late Howard “Kaniw^tula” Elijah (2024). Loving mother of Richard (Cindy), Kanahlunt, Sohahes (Amy), and the late Kanihawana. Cherished grandmother of Tehatlu (Liona), Shakoy^teles, Kanotawaks (Nate), Teshakowanukhwa, Kastoslote (Hayden), Katsitsyokus, Tekakaliyose, Yey^thokwas, Layewat, Kawyhuhati:iles. Great grandmother of Shakotshanunyatha, Amos, Norah, Nia, Lonusiyo, Loliwakat, Loluhw^stowan^ and Lo’nikulow^na. Dear sister of Betsy, Brenda and Roderick. Predeceased by her parents William Sickles and Katie (nee Summers), and her siblings Shirley, Rosemary, Leon and Humphrey.

Linda began basket making at the age of 16, traveling with her mother Katie as well-known Oneida Basket Makers and powwow vendors. She loved traveling and creating cherished memories with her lifelong partner and husband, Howard. Linda enjoyed knitting and deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She generously contributed to the Oneida Immersion School, Tsi’niyukwalihot^ learning Centre, supporting children in learning the Oneida language, and she loved attending ceremonies. Linda will be greatly missed as a kind, generous, and loving woman.

Family will receive friends on Friday February 20th, 2026, after 2pm at the Elijah Residence, 1506 Elijah Road, Onieda. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held at the River Road Longhouse, 1035 River Road, Oneida on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, commencing at 11 am. Interment Longhouse # 3 Cemetery, Oneida.
