ELLEN , Cooper Daisy Ellen

Daisy Ellen Cooper was born on August 13th, 1929. She was the youngest of 3 children to Herbert and Rose Vining. She attended Northern Secondary Vocation School, where she was a drum majorette. She graduated high school and took a one year course at the University of Toronto. She then went to work as a secretary at the Toronto Board of Education. That is where she met the love of her life, Kenneth John Cooper. Daisy and Ken were married on September 25th, 1953. Daisy and Ken had a marriage and love that only few could imagine. Their marriage lasted until her beloved Ken died in 2019. Daisy continued to live in their condo because that is where she felt closest to Ken. She would talk to him almost every day after he passed. Daisy died on July 29th, 2025 at the age of 95. She was a few days shy of her 96th birthday. She is survived by her two children, Nancy Cooper and Stephen Cooper, her three Grandchildren, Magan Rakowski, Aiden Cooper and James Cooper, and her four Great Grandchildren, Lilli, Lahvender and Liyla Rakowski and Emily Cooper. Daisy started feeling ill in mid June. Up until that time she was living semi independently with some PSW help in the morning and at lunch and dinner. She was able to dress herself, get herself ready for bed and even assist with doing laundry and dishes. She had all of her faculties and kept up on the news of the day. She enjoyed watching tennis. She started to complain that her shoulder was hurting in Mid June and that she wasn’t feeling well. On June 26th, she was admitted into hospital. An x-ray of her shoulder revealed that she had bone cancer. Further x-rays revealed that she had cancer in her spine, shoulder, pelvis as well as in her liver. Neither of these cancers was thought to be the primary cancer, which was never found. Fortunately, Daisy was not in any pain and did not need to go on any pain medications. On July 17th, the two Grandchildren, Aiden and Magan, flew up to Toronto from Texas to see their Grandmother. Aiden brought his daughter, Emily, who had just turned 2, and Magan brought her husband, Jacob and their one year old daughter Liyla. Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren visited her for 2 days on the Thursday and Friday. She continued to say when they were visiting “what a lovely day, what a lovely surprise”. After they left, she continued to bring up how much it meant to her to see her Grandchildren and finally meet face to face the two youngest Great Grandchildren. She told Jacob, Magan’s husband, that family meant everything to her, and it did. She was great mother, and great grandmother. She would often take Magan and the boys on weekends to give their parents a break. She still had set up in the basement the play kitchen set she had given her daughter when she was a little girl. She told Jacob that Ken would play her favourite song, their song, and when she noticed it playing in the backgound, she would always walk over and give him a hug. If it took her some time to notice the song playing, Ken would say “I was wondering when you were coming over.” Right up until the end, she had all of her faculties. Her body started to give out on her because of being bedridden for so long. When asked by Jacob what her happiest memory was, she said that she has had so many and then agreed that she thought her whole life was a happy memory. She travelled the world with Ken and their two closest friends, Barb and Ernie Hut. She had a great life, a great marriage and is now with love of her life and their two closest friends, Barb and Ernie, in Heaven.
