Ernest “Ernie” Edward Redden

Ernest Edward Redden, age 92, of Sarnia Ontario, died on September 10, 2026, in Sarnia Ontario.

Ernie was born October 2, 1933, in Truro, Nova Scotia. Married to Joyce Redden for 60 years. Educated at St. Pats High School, then attended University of Western Ontario business program. Ernie started his career at Sarnia General hospital in the accounting department and worked his way up to chief executive officer. Ernie retired from the hospital after 33 years of service.

Ernie was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed supporting various community organizations such as St. Johns Ambulance and Community Living Sarnia. He went out of his way to help others. Ernie enjoyed reading, gardening, watching baseball and hockey, distance walking and golfing.

Survived by children Mark (Keula), Matthew (Linda) and Marcia, and grandchildren Abby, Will, Alexander, and Justine. Also survived by his brother Earl Redden (Jill). Predeceased by his wife Joyce, his parents, his sisters Veronica and Edith (Bubs), brother Don and his granddaughter Aimee.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael Parish (1920 Wildwood Drive, Bright’s Grove) at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 16, 2026. Following the mass, the interment will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery on Michigan Avenue in Sarnia. A reception / celebration of life gathering will be held back at the St. Michael’s Parish (Bright’s Grove) meeting room from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The family requests thoughtful donations be made in Ernie’s name to Community Living Sarnia (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
