EVANS, Shirley Ann Evans

Passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Richmond Hill to Murray and Dorothy Wideman, Shirley grew up on a farm and loved to tell stories about those early years. In 1966 she married Dave and moved to Uxbridge, where she became and remained a cherished part of her community.

Shirley Ann Evans lived her life in devoted service to her Heavenly Father, and her faith guided everything she did. No matter the problem, her first solution was to always pray. She had a deep love of gardening, swimming, gummy bears, and playing piano, especially her beloved hymns.

She was a loving “Mama” to Leanne (Dan) and John (Susanne), and a devoted, craft doing, bubble blowing “Gramma” to Sadie, Duncan, Benjamin, and Lily. She loved her many nieces and nephews and they loved their Aunt Shirley.

Shirley was predeceased by Dave, her beloved husband of 55 years. She will be lovingly missed by her sisters Wendy and Joan, and is now reunited with her brothers Don and Dale. She will also be deeply missed by her extended Wideman, Steckley, and Evans families.

Mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, sister in Christ, and faithful servant – she was loved.

Fittingly, her final word was “Hallelujah” – a last note of praise from a life lived in service to her Heavenly Father.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12p.m. with visitation beginning at 10:30a.m. Immediately following the service a reception will be held. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Community Care Durham and the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation.
