It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news – Thomas Dodd (Papa/Papa Tom to most) is no longer with us. He left Belleville on June 5th to pick up items needed for the purchase of a vehicle on June 6th. He never reached home to Little Ireland Rd.
After extensive search efforts put forth by Detectives, Police officers, ERT, SAR teams, family members etc., on Monday June 16th, Tom was finally located north of where his truck was previously found. Unfortunately, it was too late, and Tom had already left earth side.
We know for certain that Tom took a wrong turn when driving home and ended up on an ATV trail where his truck got stuck. He tried very hard to get out of the bush, to find help and find his way home, but he succumbed to the elements.
Tom will be greatly missed by Arlene, his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone so dear to his heart. Arlene and the family would like to thank everyone for sharing our posts and helping locate someone so dear to our hearts.
Tom will always be remembered as the gentleman that couldn’t leave Canadian Tire, No Frills, Home Hardware or any store without turning and yelling to the whole store, “Everyone have a great day and Be Safe!”
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for Tom will take place at the Mayo Community Centre (66 Mayo Lake Road, McArthurs Mills) on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 12 Noon.
