FARIA, Elizabeth Faria

It is with profound sadness that the family of Elizabeth Faria announce her peaceful passing surrounded by family at her home on Sunday June 21, 2026 at the age of 87 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Anthony, Jennifer, Mark (Sarah), Stephen (Cathy) and William Jr (Chelsea) and her grandchildren: Natalie and Aaron, sister Stella (Karl); as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband William; sisters Juliet, Elaine, Olga and Carmen; brothers Manuel, Anthony, Edward and Frankie; and her parents: Antonio and Celicia Da Costa, and son-in-law Karl.

Elizabeth was born in British Guiana on July 15, 1938, and immigrated to Canada 1963. Soon after she married to the love of her life, William, on August 24, 1963.

She was deeply committed to her Catholic faith and its many ministries. This devotion was evident through her involvement with RCIA, the Lay Franciscans, the Catholic Women’s League, and her service as a Eucharistic minister. She gave generously of her time, volunteering at St. Vincent’s kitchen and visiting the sick in the hospital. With compassion and care, she often brought Holy Communion to those who were ill or elderly and was an active member of several prayer groups.

Selfless in all that she did, she consistently placed the needs of others before her own. Her kindness, faith, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express gratitude to the members of the palliative care and medical team that took care of Elizabeth in her final days.

Visitation will be take place at De Stefano Funeral Home (1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa) on Friday, June 26th from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Gregory the Great (214 Simcoe Street N, Oshawa) at 10:30 am.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Oshawa
