It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Carol Sue Farr (née Summers), at Deep River Hospital with family by her side on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the age of 87. She was formerly of Carleton Place and more recently of Deep River, Ontario.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Ivan Anthony Farr, in 1994, and by her son, Shawn, in 1990. She is survived by her children: Donna (Paul), Kim (Guy), Darryl, and Jason.
Loving grandmother to Brittiny, Jessy, Craig, Jarrid, Carley, Nathan, Jonathan, and step-grandmother to Jessica and Jason. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Tayler Turcotte in 2002 and her grandson Shawn Grenier in 2020. Carol was also blessed with six great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Carol was the youngest of nine children, born in Ogdensburg, New York, and raised in Ottawa during World War II. Her father served overseas and returned when she was seven. These early years shaped her character and strength, which served her well as a resilient and loving single mother.
Carol had a passion for sports and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Ottawa Senators. She often wore her Blue Jays hat proudly while cheering on her favorite teams.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, palliative team, and staff from Bayshore and Paramed for the compassionate care Carol received.
In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held for immediate family on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
In memory of Carol, donations may be made to the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Barker Funeral Home.
