FARWELL, Dennis Farwell

Passed away peacefully at Grey Bruce Hospice – Chapman House in Owen Sound on Friday, January 30, 2026. Born in Kitchener, Ontario on September 10, 1949, Dennis Paul Farwell of Owen Sound, was in his 77th year.

Beloved husband of Kendal Farwell (nee Machum). Proud father of Derrick Farwell, (Laura) of Waterloo, Dan Farwell of Owen Sound, cherished brother of Sharon Meyer (Denny) of Kitchener, treasured grandfather of Kyle Farwell (Dulce Fogle) and best friend to Max, his fur baby. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Harold Albert Edward and Adelle Lillian Farwell (nee Tooke), and by Lucky and Maggie his fur babies.

Dennis had a career in education as a teacher and vice-principal at St Mary’s and eventually retired as a principal from Notre Dame. He was respected by his colleagues and made many lifelong friends. Outside of work, Dennis loved sports and could often be found playing or coaching hockey, at the ski hill, or cheering for his favourite hockey team the Boston Bruins. He was also a proud member of the Owen Sound minor soccer executive, where he was involved in all aspects of the game.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary’s & The Missions Catholic Church, 554 15th St E in Owen Sound. Everyone is welcome to attend a celebration of Dennis’s life in the church hall following the service from 12:00–2:00 p.m. with memories being shared at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E.
