FERNANDES, Maximus Fernandes

It is with profound sadness, but also with gratitude for a life that touched many, that we announce the passing of Maximus Fernandes at the age of 91.

Maximus was predeceased by his beloved wife, Tina, his partner in life and love since their marriage in 1961. Together they built a large family whose roots continue to grow through the generations.

He leaves behind his six children: Lorraine (Dave), Max Richard, Joanna (Luc), Sharon (Scott), Brenda and Derek, along with 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, some of whom are now married and have begun families of their own. Each of them, in their own way, carries forward his legacy of love, faith, and family traditions.

Music was one of Maximus’s greatest gifts and lifelong passions. As a young man, he played the saxophone in a jazz band, sharing his love of music with audiences and friends alike. He possessed a remarkable natural talent and could pick up almost any instrument and play it by ear. Whether he was playing, singing, or dancing, music brought him joy and became one of the ways he connected with others throughout his life.

His musical talent was shared generously with his community. He played at his church, entertained fellow residents in his retirement home, and never hesitated to perform whenever someone asked. His enthusiasm for music, along with his willingness to share it, brought comfort, happiness, and countless smiles to those around him.

Faith was an important part of Maximus’s life. His church was more than a place of worship—it was a community where he found fellowship, purpose, and the opportunity to serve others through both his presence and his music.

Maximus will also be remembered by his extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched over the years. His love of music, his enduring faith, and the memories he created with those around him will remain part of his lasting legacy.

Though he has left this earthly life, his songs will continue to echo in the hearts of those who heard him play, and his memory will live on through the generations of family and friends who were part of his life’s journey.

May he rest in eternal peace.
