FERNANDES, Melvyn Anthony Fernandes

He was born on May 17, 1947, in Kampala, Uganda. He lived a full and joyful life, always cherishing time spent with friends and family — especially during picnics and gatherings that brought everyone together.

In his younger years, Melvyn found joy in music, playing in a band back home before eventually settling in Oshawa, Ontario, where he raised his two sons, Nick and Ben. His love for music continued throughout his life, and he could often be found at local blues shows, enjoying the rhythm and soul of the performances.

Melvyn adored spending time with his grandchildren who brought endless happiness to his days. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room and was well-known for his stylish collection of eyeglasses that perfectly reflected his fun-loving personality.

A proud Manchester United fan, Melvyn rarely missed a match and loved cheering on his team with passion and pride.

He is survived by his sons Nicholas (Carly) and Benjamin, along with his beloved grandchildren Nathan and Mara. He will now rest with his late sister Thelma and mother Juliet, who preceded him in death.

Melvyn will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His laughter, love of life, and music will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice on Friday October 17th from 4:00PM to 8:00PM

A funeral service will be held at ST. GERTRUDE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 690 King St E, Oshawa on Saturday October 18th from 11:00 AM followed by a reception back at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL.
