She of Stratford passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, at the age of 101.

Monique Clotilde Celine Feryn was born in Beveren-Leie, Belgium, on April 3rd, 1925, the daughter of the late Robert De Brabandere and Elise Hasaert. Devoted wife of the late Louis Feryn (2015) for 61 years.

Beloved mother of Elisabeth Feryn (Stewart), Susan Feryn-Perkin (Kim), Michael Feryn (Jacinta), Caroline Anstett (Ron) and pre-deceased by her son Patrick Feryn (Jane). Cherished Oma to Andrew (Jacky), Carlene, Seana (Tyson), Tessa (Corey), Thomas, Luke, Graeme (Delaney) and Caitlin (Gerald). Adored by her great-grandchildren, Lily, Flynn, Melanie, Ava, Zach, Gideon and Gwendoline.

Loving sister and sister-in-law of the late Jules De Brabandere, Mariette Delesie (Joseph), John De Brabandere (Agnes), Jules De Brabandere (Margaret), Jacqueline Vanhoutte (Jules), Marie Claire De Brabandere and Rosanne Laperre (Raphael).

Also, sister-in-law to Jeanne Feryn, Robert Feryn (Magdalena), Joseph Feryn (Agnes), Marcel Feryn (Christiane), Gerard Feryn (Germaine), and Maurice Feryn (Cecile). She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Belgium and touched the lives of countless treasured friends.

Monique emigrated from Belgium to Canada in 1954, marrying Louis shortly after and farming together in partnership as they raised five children in Oxford County for 36 years before retiring on Water Street in Stratford. Together with Louis, she was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Church and choir; she was also a dedicated member of the Catholic Women’s League, as well as a champion bowler in the St. Joseph’s Bowling League. Her favourite pastimes included French Club, line dancing, playing cards, knitting and corresponding with family and friends around the world. She valued family above all else, spending much of her time hosting gatherings and bringing those she loved together under one roof. She had a strong belief in the power of prayer and had many on her prayer list. She will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

Monique’s family would like to give special thanks to her family physician Dr. Brooks, and Dr. Peirce and the wonderful nursing staff at Stratford General Hospital.

Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 2 – 4 pm. Parish prayers will be offered at 1:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford, on Monday, May 25, 2026, from 10 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am (The Mass will be live streamed, please click on webcast on Monique’s obituary on the funeral home website). A reception will be held in the Parish Hall following the interment at Avondale Cemetery.
