FINCH, Christopher Albion Finch

December 27, 1941 - November 3, 2025
FINCH, Christopher Albion Finch

He is survived by wife, Pat, daughter’s Kelly (Mark), Jennifer (Dwayne), and son Mike (Lisa). Also remembered by his sister Stephanie Friesen (John), sister-in-law, Sally Mortimer Lamb (Wayne), and sister-in-law, Bonnie Cox. Chris’ seven grandchildren were the light of his life and he found great difficulty in saying goodbye to Haley (Nigel), Maia (Evan), Lauren (Mia), Jessica, Jordan (Sam), Carson, and Quinn.

Chris was born in Kelowna on December 27,1941 to the delight of his parents, Gordon and Libby Finch. His youth was spent enjoying the four-season playground that Kelowna offers. Their summer cabin was a treasure that many family and friends enjoyed growing up, including Pat. Many years later, Pat and Chris reconnected and fell in love. They were married in 1975.

Upon graduating from UBC Vancouver with an Arts degree and attending two years of Law School, Chris changed direction and joined his Dad, Gordon, opening Okanagan White Truck Sales (1972) Ltd. He and his Dad worked together for many years with Chris becoming a household name in the trucking business. Years later, Chris become a Sales Manager in International Trucks in Vernon, then moved again to Freightliner on the Westside, and eventually came full circle to join Rob James at RJames Western Star. Chris loved working there and made many lifetime friends over the years. He finally retired in March 2025 at the age of 83!!

Sadly Chris was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of cancer in April, just after celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary with Pat. Chris was an avid reader and could often be found with a book in his hands. He enjoyed golf with his wife and friends. Golf may have frustrated him more often than not. But his favourite part was gathering with the guys at the clubhouse for a drink and commiserating about his game. Although often considered a klutz, he was adept at water and snow skiing, demonstrating amazing agility and grace. Chris also enjoyed badminton and tennis at the Four Seasons. Cycling became a late love in his life. He was happiest riding up Knox or on the lava trails in Hawaii. He enjoyed early morning rides and even convinced his wife, Pat, to join him on her E-Bike!

Chris was a kind, loving, and generous man. He saw and brought out the best in everyone. His sense of humour was perfectly timed, and often inappropriate. Chris never backed down from a history lesson or debate. Chris’ memory will be forever cherished and his absence profoundly felt.

A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Ellard, Dr. Verderman, Cassy, and their team for taking such good care of Chris at the Cancer Clinic. We will always be grateful to Dr. Imrie for being at our side every step of the way.

If desired, make a donation to the Kelowna Cancer Clinic or Hospital and Home on Chris’ behalf.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held in the Spring 2026.
