It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Terence Gilroy “Terry” Sinclair-Thomson on February 27, 2026.

Terry’s roots in Kelowna run deep – his great-grandfather, W.T. Small, was one of the first settlers, and his great-grandfather, H.W. Raymer, was the first mayor.

Terry spent most of his life in the Lower Mission, the community he loved and called home. From an early age, Terry was no stranger to hard work; he learned the value of it through chores at Beaver Lake Resort under the guidance of his parents, Bill and Hilda. That work ethic carried him into a career in construction in his 20s, where he found his calling. Over the years, Terry built custom homes and took on countless projects of all sizes, eventually joining MKS Resources, where he contributed to some of the region’s more notable builds, The Lexington, River Run, and The Arboretum. He also worked on the Copper Kettle at Big White, and his final project was Mission Meadows.

When he wasn’t building, Terry could often be found exploring the outdoors; camping and travelling were among his greatest joys in life.

Terry is lovingly survived by his partner of 30 years, Linda Van Den Elzen; his brothers-in-law Ron and Mike (Kim); and numerous extended family members and friends who will all miss him dearly.

Terry left his mark on Kelowna in ways that will stand for years. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge on all things Kelowna, had a great sense of humour, and always had a story to share.

A formal service will not be held.
